If I were Holly Golightly, this is where my dawn coffee and crust would have been consumed. Dawdling, looking in these windows. Wondering if that white lampshade on the floor in the right window might be a Tiffany; whether I could determine the year of its production if I studied that globe above that hope-its-Tiffany shade; if it was intentional irony that the Virgin Mary’s dress is scarlet; if the small curvy wooden couple at the front of that window came before or after sculptor Henry Moore (1898-1986). Was that steel fan in the left window made for business, home, or both? And who could have thought that funny little bronze plant should be purchased but an admirer of the Vegetable Lamb of Tartary? The following week the windows would have new items, and my wondering would take new paths that neither I nor the items could foresee.
